CGC and STAR Puppy certificates have become a popular requirement among landlords, therapy, service, emotional support, or working dog programs, homeowner and renter’s insurance companies, and many other governing bodies who decide where you can and cannot bring your dog. Canine Good Citizen and S.T.A.R. (Socialization, Training, Activity, Responsibility) Puppy certification is the first step in proving that you are a responsible dog owner and you’re working with your dog to establish good manners and habits.
STAR Puppy certificates require 6 training sessions with a qualified trainer. If you need a STAR Puppy certification you will need to attend one of my group classes, private lessons, or provide proof that you have attended training that meets the requirements. STAR Puppy is only for puppies who are less than one year of age.
CGC is for any puppy or dog who can pass all items on the test, training with me is not required to take or pass your test. Private testing can be set up by appointment if you are in need of a CGC certification.
In addition to CGC and STAR Puppy, I can evaluate your dog for an AKC Novice Trick Dog title. This is a fun goal to work toward with your dog to keep their minds sharp. Teenagers in the home often accel when you challenge them to teach your family pet some cute circus tricks. Contact me when you’re ready to schedule your evaluation, this is also one you can submit virtually!
